Short bio

Fabio Scotti received the Ing. degree in Electronic Engineering in 1998 and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Engineering in 2003 from Politecnico di Milano, Italy. He was an Assistant Professor at the Department of Information Technologies, Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy (12/2002-02/2015). He was an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy (03/2015 - 09/2020). He is a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science, Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy (10/2020 - present). He was the Director of the Biometric Systems Laboratory of the Department of Computer Science, Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy (1/2009 - 6/2015). He is the Deputy Director of the Industrial, Environmental and Biometric Informatics Laboratory at the Department of Computer Science, Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy (06/2015 - present).

His research interests include biometric systems, contactless biometrics, multimodal biometric systems, biometric encryption and privacy-compliant biometric templates, signal and image processing, high-level system design, computational intelligence algorithms and related technologies for industrial applications, theoretical, architectural, and application aspects of artificial neural networks. He published more than 150 papers in international journals, books and conference proceedings.

He is serving as Associate Editor of the IEEE Open Journal of Signal Processing (1/2020 - present) and as Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Human-Machine Systems (4/2015 - present). He is serving as Book Editor (Area Editor, section Less-constrained Biometrics) of the Encyclopedia of Cryptography, Security, and Privacy (3rd Edition), Springer (12/2019 - present). He served as Associate Editor of the Springer "Soft Computing" (2013-2020) and as Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security (2010-2013). He served as guest co-editor for the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement (Special Section on Computational Intelligence for Measurement Systems and Applications, and the Special Issue on Biometric Instrumentation and Measurement).
